Alternative Walking Tour
The 4-5 hour walking tour is a fascinating journey from East to West Beirut, un-layering 4 different neighborhoods. It recounts stories of various themes from the civil war, gentrification, political-socio-economic developments, economic crisis, graffiti, among others. In doing so, the tour explores the depth of both Beirut’s past and present. The tour stops at various alternative and authentic spots for refreshments and snacks.
When: Every Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday at 10:30 am
Meeting point: Starting from the top of the St. Nicolas Staircase (NOT the St. Nicolas Church) in Gemmayzeh.
Ending point: Bab Idriss, next to the old Holiday Inn Hotel

The Alternative Political Tour explores the country’s political landscape through the physical spaces that form Beirut. The tour delves deep into the city's tumultuous past and present, exploring the intersections of people, politics, war, and culture. From the founding of Lebanon as a nation state, to the scars of the civil war and the green line that once divided the city, to the complex political landscape of modern-day Lebanon, to the legacy of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, we'll trace the turns of history that have shaped this complex country.
Through an immersive city walk, we investigate the nuances of Lebanon's constitution and political system, as well as the challenges facing the country today. With a focus on dialogue and understanding, we invite you to join us on a journey of discovery, reflection, and engagement with the complex political history of Lebanon, from 1920 to the present day.
