Public Spaces

Public spaces and playgrounds for children cannot be overstated in Beirut. These spaces provide more than just a physical environment for kids to expend their boundless energy. They are essential for fostering holistic development, encouraging social interactions, promoting physical activity, and nurturing creativity.

However, in the middle of a city stacked with buildings, relatively few locations are still classified as public. They are not just rare, but frequently unrecognized, inaccessible or privatized.

Here’s a list of some of the public gardens in Beirut as shown on the Beirut Green Guide map.

It should be noted that the figure would have been larger if they had relied on what the Beirut Municipality considered parks – Beirut Green Project only included public places with benches and greenery, regardless of size.
